Abstract: The disease burden of schizophrenia is heavy, and its pathogenesis has not yet been fully elucidated, with numerous challenges in the development of novel antipsychotics. This paper, in conjunction with the current clinical needs unmet in the field of schizophrenia, details the status of clinical research and development for antipsychotic drugs around the world, and analyzes the latest progress in the global pipeline, with focus on the current research and development ideas and strategies for different targets of antipsychotic drugs, aiming to keep stakeholders informed about the research trends and clinical application of these drugs.
