Abstract: Special injections are complex drug delivery systems such as injectable microspheres, liposomes and suspensions, which hold great market potential despite a limited number of approvals. Certain products even show better market performance than new molecular entities. This review briefly describes globally launched special injections, including injectable liposomes, injectable microspheres and injectable suspensions. The current status and development potential of these three types of complex injections were discussed from the three aspects of technical profiles, market effects and clinical needs.
