Abstract:
Drug delivery is considered the “last kilometer” of drug development. Since the breakthrough product Dexedrine
® Spansule
® sustained-release capsule was approved in 1952, drug delivery technology has evolved over 70 years and has made remarkable advances in enabling the development of traditional chemical drugs as well as biologic drugs such as proteins, peptides and monoclonal antibodies. Recent research progress in drug delivery technologies are reviewed with examples from frontier fields such as intelligent drug delivery systems, micro/nano robots, and biomimetic delivery systems.
