Abstract:
Ferroptosis as a brand-new iron-dependent use of lipid peroxide excessive accumulation leading to redox imbalance of cell death, as new tumor treatment, has attracted wide attention of researchers. Studies have shown that ferroptosis is closely related to the occurrence and development of tumors. With the development of nanotechnology in recent years, multifunctional nanomaterials such as nano-iron oxide, amorphous nanoparticles and organic iron frame can remove glutathione, produce hydrogen peroxide and catalyze Fenton reaction, so they can cooperate with ferroptosis inducers to play a better anti-tumor role. This article summarizes the mechanism of iron death and its relationship with cancer, and introduces the mechanism of iron death nano-preparation anti-tumor therapy. Then, it focuses on the application of iron death nanotechnology in cancer, including the combined treatment of iron death nano-preparations and traditional therapies. Finally, the prospects and challenges of iron death nano-preparations applied to tumor treatment are presented.
