Abstract:
In recent years, protein and peptide drugs have been widely favored by researchers because of their significant advantages in the treatment of diseases. However, these drugs generally have a short half-life, which affects patient compliance. In this paper, combining the pharmacokinetic characteristics of protein/peptide drugs, the progress of long-acting technology for delivering protein and peptide drugs is summarized, including amino acid substitution, site-directed mutagenesis, fusion with other proteins at genetic level, glycosylation, cyclization, polymer conjugation, stapled peptide, new formulation development methods, hoping to be helpful to the drug developers.
