Abstract: Through analyzing recently published patents, this article discusses the current status and future development of stem cell technology, suggesting that enterprises should shift their focus towards translational research to foster industrial transformation of stem cell-related technologies. This article also analyzes the application strategies of major patent holders by comparison of the differences between Chinese and foreign applicants of stem cell patents, with an aim to provide reference for the Chinese research entities in the determination of their research direction and patent portfolio.
