Abstract:
APJ is a G protein-coupled receptor and its endogenous ligands contain Elabela and Apelin, which play important roles in vascular remodeling homeostasis and damage repair. ELA-Apelin-APJ system participates in the regulation of angiogenesis, differentiation and vascular fibrosis, as well as apoptosis, inflammation, oxidative stress and blood pressure levels, whose abnormal activity and expression are involved in the pathogenesis of vascular diseases such as atherosclerosis, hypertension, pulmonary hypertension and stroke. In this article, the regulatory roles of ELA-Apelin-APJ system in vascular remodeling homeostasis and its progress in research as potential drug targets are discussed, so as to provide reference for related vascular researches.
