Abstract
Glioma is the most common type of primary malignant brain tumor.Traditional chemotherapy drugs often lack sufficient targeting for glioma and have low blood-brain barrier penetration, so their application in glioma treatment is limited.Exosomes, as a new generation of drug delivery carriers with good biocompatibility, stability and blood-brain barrier penetration, have been extensively investigated in targeted drug delivery for brain diseases in recent years, yielding remarkable achievements. In this article, the structure and biological characteristics of exosomes have been introduced. In addition, the brain-targeted delivery strategies using exosomes as drug delivery carriers and the research progress of exosomes in the treatment of glioma have been reviewed.
