Study on the Influence of Six Sigma Management Method on Pharmaceutical Dispensing Efficiency, Quality and Accuracy of Tumor Chemotherapy Drugs

  • Objective To explore the influence of Six Sigma management method on pharmaceutical dispensing efficiency, quality and accuracy of tumor chemotherapy drugs. Methods A total of 100 patients who received intravenous chemotherapy in the Department of Oncology, The 903 rd Hospital of the PLA Joint Logistic Support Force, from June 2024 to May 2025 were enrolled retrospectively. According to different management modes of Pharmacy Intravenous Admixture Services(PIVAS), the patients were divided into a control group and an observation group, with 50 cases in each group. The control group adopted the conventional management mode from June to November 2024, while the observation group adopted the Six Sigma management method from December 2024 to May 2025. The pharmaceutical dispensing efficiency, quality and accuracy were compared between the two groups. Results Compared with the control group, the prescription review and verification time, drug sorting and labeling time, drug compounding time, packaging verification time and total dispensing time were significantly shorter in the observation group(P< 0.05). The scores of auditing system, drug management and safety management in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group, and the on-time drug delivery rate was significantly increased(P< 0.05). The total incidence of dispensing errors in the observation group was significantly lower than that in the control group(P< 0.05). Conclusion Six Sigma management method can significantly improve dispensing efficiency, optimize dispensing quality and reduce the incidence of dispensing errors by systematically optimizing the dispensing process of tumor chemotherapy drugs. It can provide a safer and more efficient medication guarantee for patients undergoing tumor chemotherapy in clinical practice, and is worthy of popularization and application in PIVAS.
