Abstract
The radio-responsive chemotherapeutic drug delivery system can increase the tumor-targeting ability and controllable release of chemotherapeutic drugs as well as reduce the intensity and frequency of radiation needed by chemotherapy. It enhances the synergistic action of chemotherapy and radiotherapy with maximum efficacy and minimal side effects, playing an important role in cancer treatment. In this paper, research advances in the application of radio-responsive chemotherapeutic drug delivery systems with different sources of radiation (X-ray, γ-ray and long-wavelength visible light) in cancer treatment were reviewed, which supposed to provide references for the design and application of chemotherapeutic drug delivery systems.
