Abstract
Polygoni multiflori radix is the dried root tuber of Polygonum multiflorum Thunb. (Fam. Polygonaceae). It belongs to the category of Chinese tonic herbs and widely utilized both as food and medicine. In recent years, there have been increased reports on hepatic lesions caused by polygoni multiflori radix and its preparation, raising concerns about the safety issues of polygoni multiflori radix. This article summarized the recent advances in the absorbed components of polygoni multiflori radix in rat blood, its pharmacokinetics, and metabolomic study of its hepatotoxicity, so as to provide reference for its safe and rational clinical application.
