Abstract
With high chemical, regional, isomeric and enantiomeric selectivity, biocatalysts have huge advantages in obtaining chiral compounds. Traditional biocatalysts are mostly enzymes or cells from terrestrial microorganisms. Marine microorganisms live in high-salinity and high-pressure environment, consequently they are highly tolerant to extreme conditions such as high salinity, organic solvents and high pressure. Marine microorganisms are more suitable biocatalysts than terrestrial microorganisms. More and more marine organisms have been explored as biocatalysts in recent years. This review provides an overview of current marine whole-cell biocatalysts, so as to provide reference for related researches.
